![]() Reposte, perplexing, I kept trying to parry and then strike like every other video game ever made and was not seeing any icon on the enemy. I had to go to a Wiki to find out about Quen since the tutorial never has you use it I had no idea I could put a force field around my absobing damage. I wrote up a cheat sheet for the different signs since the tutorial really only seemed to cover 1 or 2 of them in any detail. I watched that video max.straus and think it is going to help big time, thanks for pointing me to it. its a real peach that really shows it all Buzzard guy. It actually took me through half of chapter 1 until I was getting accustomed to the "don't get hit" play style. It led to a more controlled play style that made it quite fun. Since you really can't take hits in the back or allow yourself to be flanked, this was necessary. Maybe it was because I started on hard that I forced myself to simply pay more attention. ![]() Thought screw it and started the game on hard! Did the tutorial again, and again I messed it up. I finally played through the entire game over the past three weeks. I had that a few years back and started on normal as you did and got murdered a couple of times at the ballista and much worse after that. If you're slow to start and don't kill your first enemies quick enough, you get overwhelmed pretty quickly and voile -> easy recommendation. It teaches you the buttons, then throws you into the arena with regularly spawning new baddies. Well, maybe you should just stick to playing those instead. You think you know it all since you've beaten other games. It won't get any easier in TW3 because the controls are different and they're clunkier until you get used to them but I can almost guarantee that you won't get anything out of its tutorial at the beginning of the game either. What is the point of this thread? Why ask for help if you won't even follow what the game is telling you to do? So, obviously, the first thing you do is set it to Normal and then are amazed at how quickly you died once more. It put you at Easy because you definitely were not able to handle combat at any higher a difficulty until you finally acknowledge that you need to play the game the way it's meant to be played. If you are dying that easily there, you clearly are insisting on playing your way and not following the onscreen instructions telling you how to attack, how to use your tools effectively and how to survive. Installed and started up no problems, graphics look really great for the era and it runs like a dream. After doing further research I decided I wanted to Play Witcher 2 first for story sake. Should I even bother with the frustration? Why in the heck is this game so freaking difficult? Its level 1 man, and the tutorial was horrible. Die so many times trying to stealth out of the dungeon I finally close the game and begin to seriously consider just skipping it and going straight to Witcher 3. Get beat up by guard before learning the timing on screen prompts. Still dont know what blue triangle, purple horseshoe, and green clover do (symbols, really? they could have at least put a description when I mouse over it), but hey I get through the prologue finally. Die numerous times throughtout the rest of the prologue but hey, Im finally beginning to get the hang of this. Frustration level 9, for f's sake this is the first fight of the game how can it be this hard? Finally finish the siege. Die 25 times or so trying to take the ballista. Geralt decides taking the ballista is the way to go. Prologue begins, running up the walls during the siege. Immediatly I bring up options and bump up to NORMAL. Gnarly knight dude comes out of door and quickly slays me. Got to the end and the game says it will set the difficulty based on how well I do. Jumped into the arena for the tutorial and repeatedly died. ![]() Picked up Witcher 3 a few days ago because of all the great recommendation/ reviews.
